Announcing 120 awarded artworks of 4th Toyota Dream Car drawing contest

Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV) in cooperation with Department of Primary Education (Ministry of Education & Training) officially announced 120 awarded artworks of the 4th Toyota Traffic Safety Drawing contest  with the theme “Dream Car” for aged-15-and-below pupils  nationwide. This activity is within the framework of the program “Toyota traffic safety education program” (TSEP) which has been implemented annually since school year 2005-2006.

This year, the contest was launched during 2 months (Feb & Mar  2015). Significantly, the organizating board has received a recorded number of participating artworks of over 600.000 units from 63 provinces/ cities nationwide, up  50% against the contest last year. In general, the number of participating artworks from the Nort-Central-South regions all increased considerably compared with last year, in which the Northern provinces and cities continued to accounted for big amount, especially Nam Dinh, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi, Thanh Hoa, Quang Ninh…. This has shown the wide popularization and positive effects of this contest to childrean and the community in general.

The number of artworks since 2011 until  now

The participating artworks are drawn by variety of color pencils, watercolour,…. All of them are striking by their  brilliant colours, spontaneous lines, diversifying ideas, and showing children’s very pure and unique dreams about a future friendly and safe vehicle. With such a big number of participating pictures, in order to select the deserving pictures, the jury board members, including teachers, artists and experts, based on many critieria such as: the pictures must show unique idea, close & reasonable layout, attractive color suitable to the theme, preferential treatment to pictures with creative & unique ideas; high humanity. Finally, with the working spirits of passion, carefulness and justice, the jury board chose 120 deserving awarded artworks of the 4th Toyota Traffic Safety Drawing contest with the theme “Dream Car”. This year, there are 20 prizes more than that of last year contest with the total 120 prizes, total value of 210,000,000 VND. Accordingly, the prize structure consists of 10 1st prizes, 10 2nd prizes, 30 3rd prizes & 70 consolidation prizes.

With the purpose of inspring creative passion and creating chances for children to show their unique and new ideas through their dream cars, the Toyota Dream Car Art Contest is an annual activity held by Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) since 2004 and has attracted the participation of over 90 countries in the world. In Vietnam, this contest has been held since 2011 and  after  only 4 years in Vietnam, the total participating number of artworks for this contest has been up to more than 1.7 million and become the biggest drawing contest in Vietnam. In order to create chances for children to compete with other children in the world, this contest is organized with 2 rounds: national and world contests.

Assessing the quality of participating artworks of the contest this year, Mr. Nguyen Duc Huu, Deputy Director of Primary Education Department – Ministry of Education & Training, Head of Jury Board said: “We are very surprised and impressive at the talent and creativity of children through their pictures with more new & unique ideas, diversifying and spectacular layout and form compare with the second contest. I believe that with the passion, creativity and determination, Vietnamese children can be confident to compete with international friends and tack back high prizes at the coming World contest”.

Especially, not stopped at the national scale,  the organizing board selected 09 best  pictures of the national contest (including 03 units/under 08 years old category; 03 units/08-11 years old category; and 03 units/12-15 years old category) to attend the World contest. For the winners of the world contest, beside the awards of the Organizing Board, each winner and 2 of their guardians will be invited to attend the Awarding Ceremony and a Japan tour to be held in August 2015 in Japan.

It can be said that, only after 4 years of organizing, the Toyota Dream Car Art Contest  in Vietnam has become one of the meaningful contests in traffic safety field with biggest national scale. Remarkably, Vietnam’s children also received many high  prizes at the World  contest in Japan: 01 silver prize in 2012 (first year launched) by Le Khanh Linh(under 10 years old, student of Nguyen Luong Bang primary school, Hai Duong province) with a picture named “rescue car for flood victims” ;  01 consolation prize in 2013 by Nam Vu Huy (under 8 years old, student of Tran Nhat Duat primary school, Hanoi) with a picture named “multi-purposed car”. Especially, 1 gold prize in 2014 by Bui Thanh Mai (under 8 years old), first grade of Le Hong Phong Primary school, Tam Diep town, Ninh Binh province with the picture named “Super crab car”.

“The enthusiastic responses and participation from pupils, the support and attention of parents and teachers nationwide have really become great encouragement for us, as the organizer, to have more motivation to continue organizing this contest in a sustainable and long term way in the future”,  Ms. Doan Thi Yen – Vice president of TMV said.
