Since 2010, Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV) has officially launched the Toyota National Student Volleyball Tournament in order to enhance the sport spirit at school, improve health and solidarity of students from Universities, Colleges and Vocational Schools nationwide. It is one of new social contribution programs under the Memorandum of Understanding during 2010-2012 between Ministry of Education and Training and TMV.
In the long term, the Toyota National Student Volleyball Tournament also helps to find out young volleyball talents to supplement the Vietnamese student delegations attending SEA Games for students, professional volleyball teams, and furthermore the national volleyball team.
In its first year, Toyota National Student Volleyball Tournament 2010 took place in 2 locations including Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city with the participation of 66 male and female teams as well as attracted over 14,000 students to join this meaningful physical playground.
In 2011, the tournament was expanded in 6 areas including Hanoi, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho with the participation of 45 male and 37 female teams coming from 56 different universities/colleges nationwide. Beside the prize list for the tournament, TMV also directly supports 50,000,000 VND per team for the University of Winner team (male & female), 30,000.000 VND per team for the Team in Second prize (male & female) to further develop sporty activities in general and volleyball in particular at awarded universities.
